A day after closing Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery for 50 days, Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila hinted that there could be a temporary fuel shortage in the country, due to panick buying.
Lomg lines are being witnessed before fuel stations Island wide following the government’s announcement reagrding temporary shut down of Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.
However, Gammanpila said that even though a fuel shortage is witnessed, it would not last for more than two to three days.
He said that due to panick buying, the fuel stored at the stations for few days have been finished in one day. As a result, there could be a shortage until next fuel stock is arrived, he added.
