Jayantha Dhanapala, a distinguished diplomat who served as the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs and as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United States and the UN Office in Geneva, passed away at the age of 85.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Teaching Hospital Kandy.
The Director of the hospital has verified the news of Mr. Dhanapala’s demise, stating that he succumbed to a heart attack.
