The Milk Powder Importers Association today (11) said that they are unable to import milk powder although a tax relief was granted to them.
A member of the association Lakshman Weerasuriya said that although the tax relief was given, they can only recover Rs. 100 of loss per milk powder kilogram.
Even with the tax relief, they have to bear a loss of Rs. 200 per kilogram, he said. Therefore, we request a price hike of Rs. 200 per kilogram, he said.
