Despite the health professionals plea to impose strict travel restrictions islandwide, thw government has decided to reduce to the number of wedding guests to 50 from midnight today (10).
The number of wedding guests earlier was 150.
Apart from that the inter province travel restriction will be strictly monitored from today and no one will be allowed to cross provinces other than essential and health workers.
It was reported earlier that the Health Ministry also requested the government to impose a four week long travel restrictions islandwide. However, Cabinet Spokesperson Keheliya Rambukwella today said that imposing travel restrictions would be the last alternative of the government to curb the COVID-19 spread.
