The name of UNP leader – Ranil Wickremesinghe has been handed over to the Election Commission to fill the party’s National List slot in parliament, which remains vacant.
The Elections Commission today confirmed that the UNP had sent it’s Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe’s name to be gazetted as a national list MP.
The Election Commission will issue an Extraordinary Gazette notification on June 18, declaring UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as a Member of Parliament, Election Commission Chairman Nimal Punchihewa stated.
UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara stated that the relevant documents in this regard were handed over to the Election Commission this morning.
