The President’s Office has established a President’s Media Centre (PMC) at the Presidential Secretariat to hold weekly media briefings.

According to President’s Spokesperson Kingsley Rathnayake, this new centre is designed to hold media breafings similar to US’s White House.

Rathnayake said that the new PMC will facilitate journalists to connect with Government officials through either directly or online.

However, when the photos of the PMC started to circulate social media, many social media users pointed out that the it has violated National Language Principle.

In response, Rathnayake said that those images are only portray a ‘dummy’ PMC and the real one will be uncovered soon.
