Dr. Rohantha Abeysekara has been appointed as the Acting General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) with immediate effect, removing Susantha Perera from the post.
He was serving as CEB’s Additional General Manager (Corporate Strategy) until his new appointment.
The CEB Engineers’ Union demanded Dr. Abyesekara’s appointment saying that according to the traditions of the CEB, he is the qualified candidate for the post, as he is the most senior engineer at the CEB.
They alleged that Perera was a shady appointment by the CEB Chairman who wanted to carry out fraud deals with Perera within the institute.
The engineers engaged in sick leave protest and work-to-rule campaign since last week over the matter.
